Thursday, March 26 students

Thu, 26 March, Recorded testimonies of students in morning. With extra days intended for class, we opted to use this morning the way we wanted to and learned more about students. I acted as interviewer, giving leading questions and monitoring time. It’s so easy to get sidetracked when telling one’s life story. But we needed to keep these within about 10 minutes. So I asked a few questions of each as seemed appropriate. Most from Hindu families; but 3 (?) from Cn homes. Still all went through their own respective issues before coming to Christ. Outright physical persecution rare in Bihar. But rejection by family common.

I felt it was very inspiring to hear their testimonies. Initially I felt a little surprise or confusion that a person would grow up in a godly home amid the opposition of their society and yet turn away from the Lord. But it happens here in the U.S. So why shouldn't it happen there? In fact, it may be more understandable to see it there, given the opposition compounded by the overwhelming Hindu influence in the country. Plus, in Bihar there are proportionally more Muslims than in other parts of the country. So that just adds to the sense of being an outsider. And sometimes (often?) a young person just wants to belong. But each of the young men--whether from Hindu homes or Christian homes--gave clear witness to the changes God has worked in their lives since they surrendered to Christ.
