I forgot to mention something interesting that happened on Friday night. Mike expressed an interest in visiting one of the home Bible study groups they conduct in the area. It turned out that Raju and Anil (the latter is the home pastor) had canceled their usual Friday night meeting because we were arriving. They were pleasantly surprised at our interest. So they called the host homeowner and arranged to reconvene their usual gathering.

The gentleman in white is the homeowner. We learned his name but I failed to write it down. The others in the picture form part of his family. At the far left edge, you can see Anil, the missionary who leads their Bible study as well as 3 others in the Jodhpur area.

Here is a close-up of the homeowner. If you go back to the picks of the Saturday gathering, you will see him with his wife, joining in the leadership session. He seems to have genuinely turned his life over to the Lord Jesus!
After singing a few songs, they asked Mike to share a few words. He gave an abreviated testimony and directed them to a scripture passage. Then they asked me to bring a greeting. So I talked about Ephesians 2, where Paul makes clear that whether we are born into a Christian family like mine with generations of disciples of Christ, or whether we are born into a Hindu home like they were, we all come before Christ on the same basis: The Blood of Jesus. And in his cross, the dividing walls between us are destroyed.
I found this additional pic from my collection of graduation photos. It shows the homeowner in white again with his wife to his left.
Thank you Mike, for initiating this evening gathering!

While Paul was clearly talking about Gentiles and Jews being unified through the blood of Christ, I can imagine that your message would have been well received by converts in this environment - an assurance of our unity in Christ, without difference of our background. Thanks be to God that we have not had to endure under the law as those 1st century Jews did, but always in a life of grace through our baptism in Christ.
