Martyrs Monument

At the left side of my blog, you have already seen the banner for Persecution Blog. It reminded its readers about the Martyrs Monument now touring the country. If you follow that link I just put in, you can see some of the pictures of the monument and learn a little about it. But if you learn where it is appearing, I understand it is worth your while to go see it. (This may be heresy, but it may even be more worthwhile than going to see J.K. Rowling!!!)

I'll try to find out about its travel schedule, in case you want to check it out.

Basically, it honors many of the millions who gave their lives rather than deny their and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On that same website you also order the newly released and updated Foxe: Voice of the Martyrs. This is an updated version of the original Foxe's Book of Martyrs. This includes martyrs from the early church but also extends into contemporary times to give the witnesses of recent sacrifices for our Lord.

I hope you will at least take a look at the pictures and read about the monument.

Then tell me what you think!

An appropriate topic on this the Feast of the Beheading (or Decollation) of St John the Baptist, who, having spoke the Truth of Christ and of that concerning Herod's misdeeds, forsook his life and claimed the martyr's palm. May his enduring message and that of all the martyrs ring true in our ears, that "He (Christ) must increase, but I must decrease."

And great work on the links!

Hey...I want to know if the JK Rowling comment was intended for us?!? Who else could it be for (after a recent post of ours mentioned our desire to see her)? Shawn says its all meant to be tongue in cheek...but my dander is up just a tiny bit!

Well, I went to the link you wonderfully provided (nice work on that) to see if the monument would be in our vicinity any time soon, but was surprised to see that there are no dates or cities listed on the site. How can I avail myself of the monument and avoid my supercilious desire to see one of my favorite authors IF I cannot figure out where and when the monument is located? -S

Do Note: This comment is mostly in jest...but there is a ring of truth to it. I felt called out by you (and possibly a bit judged), even if it was just in jest on your part as well. I am not offended (and hope you aren't by this comment), but I felt the need to let you know how I initially felt when I read this post.

LOL

It was all in jest, from start to finish. No offense intended from this side and I'm sure none intended from your side either.

Maybe (probably?) it's a generational thing, but I just don't get the whole Harry Potter thing. I'm glad that a new generation (that coming after yours) is learning the joy of reading. But I can't think of any book I would go gaga over like some of the young people did.

I was not sending any judging messages from me. But like I said, I just don't get it.

As to schedule, I tried to convey in the original post that I don't know where the schedule is and that I will try to find that. Have not done so yet (still finishing the dissertation!).

Love and positive thoughts....
